Pastor of Care & Groups

Part-Time (15-20 hours/week)

About This Role

The Pastor of Care & Groups is responsible to initiate, coordinate, support, and oversee programs and ministries designed to help adults get involved in life groups. This includes casting and clearly communicating vision and inspiring participation of the congregation, staff, and volunteer leaders in life groups. This role also includes occasional preaching responsibilities and provides oversight of the pastoral care of Northside Community Church. This position reports to the Lead Pastor.

Primary Responsibilities and Tasks of the Pastor of Care & Groups

  1. Lead a volunteer team dedicated to the continued development and growth of the life group ministry, including casting a vision for life groups to the congregation.
  2. Develop and maintain an annual plan that ensures continuous improvement and growth of church-wide life group involvement. This includes life group connection events that emphasize the importance of connection and biblical community.
  3. Plan and execute regular small group leader trainings and recognition events. This includes identifying, recruiting and coaching new life group leaders.
  4. Collaborate with the Lead Pastor and the Communications team to create promotional materials and timely methods to inform the congregation of life groups, their purpose, importance and how to get connected.
  5. Identify and select life group curriculum and other life group study materials and tools.
  6. Plan and coordinate periodic seminars and retreats to facilitate spiritual growth (i.e., Financial Peace University, Marriage Retreats, etc.).
  7. Function as staff leader for Deacon ministry which includes providing training and support for Deacon’s in the Family Care plan model.
  8. Develop and oversee Northside’s prayer ministry.
  9. Oversee New To Northside connection opportunities.
  10. Preach occasionally (6-8 times) per year as designated by the Lead Pastor.
  11. With Director of Community & Engagement, foster bi-monthly or quarterly relational connection opportunities for the church.
  12. Share in general pastoral responsibilities such as preaching, prayer, communion, baptisms, visitation and counseling as designated by the Lead Pastor.

Desired Qualifications

  • A passionate love for the Lord and for people.
  • Energetic, organized, and self-motivated.
  • Able to lead and motivate diverse groups of people. High degree of relational wisdom.
  • A team player with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize workloads, and handle multiple tasks at once.
  • A passion for seeing people become connected to the church.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the Christian faith and the mission and vision of the church.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Masters preferred.
  • 10+ years of ministry experience.
  • Theologically aligned and in agreement with NAE Statement of Faith.
  • Computer literate to complete necessary tasks within software applications.
  • Experience preaching/teaching.

Pay Range:
$25,000 - $30,000
